10 Things To NOT Do If You Want To Be Successful

I know - It doesn't sound all that inspirational does it - but hear me out....

So you want to be successful, huh? We all do right? You found this site so you already know you have limitless possibilities!

The problem is many of us are STUCK in negative thinking and/or behaviors. I know that when I am stuck this way, I feel well - awful.

And when I am both stuck in negativity AND feeling awful about it, it really impacts my potential and the level of success I experience.

Getting “unstuck” is the key. And the best way I’ve found to do that is to avoid certain behaviors and actions that tend to keep me in that place

So whether you are talking sports, business, or any other topic, these ten things are definitely things to NOT do if you want to be successful!

1. Don’t Be Jealous Or Envious Of Others

Seeing other people around you succeed should motivate you, even if they are your competitors. There is way too much abundance in this life to be jealous. There is plenty to go around but if you focus on others, you aren’t focusing on yourself.

Understand that every single person has the ability to become successful–most especially YOU.

Don’t waste your time focusing on other people’s successes! Focus on your own and it will undoubtedly happen. And CELEBRATE THEM! You might be surprised how much abundance flows BACK to you!

2. Don’t Look Back At Past Hardships And, Especially, “Failures”

You are going to face hard times. Period. You are going to make mistakes and have failures. You are going to have to make difficult decisions at some point. These are the facts of life. You can’t let them, each time they happen, consume you. Everyone–YES, everyone–goes through these things.

The difference between those that are successful and those that want to be successful is that the successful learn from hardship and failure and immediately get up, move forward, and focus on their goals.

Don’t let small bumps in the road stop your forward progress. Find practices that will help you move through these difficult times and keep on moving towards your goals!

3. Don’t Make Excuses aka - the "blame game"

It’s called personal responsibility.

We cannot blame others or make up scenarios to support why it (whatever it is for you) didn’t happen. Like somehow it happened TO us instead of FOR us.

Life isn’t HAPPENING to you–it’s THERE for you to embrace and take advantage of!

4. Don’t Stop Learning

There isn’t a single person on this planet who knows everything. And anyone who claims to or even comes across as a “know it all” is just fooling themselves and letting ego stand in front of clarity.

I teach all of my new teachers to always ask why. Because curiosity and understanding lead to growth and expansion. While acting as if you know it all already only leaves you stagnant. (Not to mention it turns others off big time.)

Never stop learning, always look to grow and evolve.

5. Don’t Associate With Negative Individuals

This is easier said than done in many situations. You can’t necessarily choose the people you work with and you can’t choose your family. But you can choose how you spend your time and whether those people are part of that time.

People who constantly make excuses, complain, and have a negative outlook should be avoided like the plague. We all know people like this.

Surround yourself with like-minded, supportive individuals that are as focused and determined as you are.

6. Don’t Wake Up Without A Plan

There are only so many hours in a day so to be efficient and effective you need to know what your goals are and what tasks you need to get done prior to starting your day.

If you are scrambling to create a plan of attack every day you are going to be in trouble.

End each day by mapping out the following day’s to-do list based on your vision and goals.

7. Don’t Be Too Rigid And Scared To Make Changes

You need to be willing and able to adjust your plans and overall strategy because there is a very good chance that you will need to adapt to maintain success in the future.

There is always going to be something or someone that is going to influence you in some way–negative OR positive.

You must be flexible and willing to change your strategy based on your circumstances!

8. Don’t Talk, Just Do

Successful people don’t sit back and talk about what they are going to do. They plan, follow through, and conquer. Nothing is going to get accomplished by talking about it.

Actions speak louder than words but also lead to productive outcomes that move you closer to your vision and goals.

9. Don’t Focus Solely On Dollar Signs

I want to make money! Hell YES! Who doesn’t? As that country song goes–“Money can’t buy happiness, but it could buy me a boat, it could buy me a truck to pull it.”

Instead of chasing the money though, focus on making a difference and providing value.

If you do this, the money will come.

10. Don’t Let Failure Stop You

Yes, this is kind of a repeat of #2 in this list but for good reason.

We all make mistakes ALL THE TIME. It’s just human.

But I think many of us also think we are unique and that we make more mistakes than other people do.

It’s bullshit and you have to let go of that.

If you look at any successful person in history, they have failed, and been fired, and failed again. (Seriously, look at this list, it’s inspiring to say the least.) If in fact they fail it is viewed as part of their growth and they keep plugging along.

Embrace failure as a path of learning and achieve greatness in your life.

I hope that this list helps you as much as writing it down reminded me of the importance of these things in my own life and in my own success.

I love you babes - keep on going!
